Over Russell Peters
Russell Peters is a name that needs no introduction in the world of comedy. Recently named one of Rolling Stone’s "50 Best Comics of All Time," he’s been making people laugh for decades. He started doing stand-up at just 19, hitting up open mics in his hometown of Toronto. Over the next 15 years, he worked his way through clubs across Canada and the UK, perfecting his craft and building his fanbase.
In 2004, everything changed when his CTV Comedy Now! special went viral, putting him on the map globally. By 2007, he made history as the first comedian to sell out Toronto’s Air Canada Centre. Since then, he’s smashed attendance records at some of the most iconic venues in the world, from Madison Square Garden to the Sydney Opera House to London’s O2 Arena—where he broke the UK’s record for the most tickets sold for a single comedy show.
Russell’s comedy specials have been huge hits, with Outsourced (2006), Red, White, and Brown (2008), and The Green Card Tour (2010) airing on Showtime and Comedy Central. In 2013, he became the first comedian to create a Netflix Original Comedy Special. His Deported World Tour saw over 400,000 fans across 40 cities in 20 countries, wrapping up with the Amazon Prime special, Russell Peters: Deported, in 2020. Now, he’s back on the road with his Act Your Age World Tour, entertaining audiences everywhere.
But Russell’s talents don’t stop at comedy. He’s won Gemini, Peabody, Emmy, and Canadian Screen Awards for his work as a host, producer, and actor. His TV series The Indian Detective was a massive hit, breaking Canadian viewership records in 2017 and streaming worldwide on Netflix.
